CCHA Cares: Penrod

At CCHA Law, we believe in supporting the arts and that vibrant culture nurtures thriving communities. Which is why we’re proud to support Penrod and their annual event, The Penrod Arts Fair.

In this month’s CCHA Cares blog, we’ll highlight Penrod’s history, how they benefit our community, and how we can support its mission focusing on the cultivation, encouragement and development of public interest in and support of those arts, cultural and educational institutions located in and around Marion County, Indiana, its surrounding counties and the Indiana area in general.

About Penrod

Penrod is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Indianapolis with a mission to support arts and cultural initiatives and organizations in central Indiana. Penrod is led by members of The Penrod Society, a fellowship of professionals who dedicate time to uplifting the community through art. The organization is well-known for its signature event, The Penrod Arts Fair, the largest single-day art fair in the country.

Its flagship event, the Penrod Arts Fair, takes place annually on the first Saturday after Labor Day at Newfields. What began as a modest afternoon gathering at Oldfields has evolved into one of the largest single-day arts fairs in the nation, attracting around 20,000 attendees and featuring over 1,000 visual and performing artists, multiple performance stages, and numerous community partners across the grounds.

Proceeds from the fair directly fund grants for arts, cultural, and educational institutions across central Indiana, which support dozens of organizations, artists, and students each year.

Why We Support Penrod

Partnering with Penrod aligns perfectly with our commitment to uplift local organizations and amplify the impact of volunteer-led philanthropy. CCHA Law attorney Justin Hays is in his second year as a volunteer with Penrod Society and CCHA Law attorney Frederick Sprunger is in his first year as a volunteer with Penrod.

“Supporting Penrod is about celebrating creativity, the arts community, and supporting an all-volunteer organization that returns 100% of its proceeds from The Penrod Arts Fair to artists and art-based organizations from Indianapolis and the surrounding communities.. We’re proud to support The Penrod in nurturing Indianapolis’ cultural vitality.”
