#CCHACares: Teter Organic Farm

At Church Church Hittle + Antrim (CCHA Law), we are proud to stand alongside organizations that make a difference in the communities where we live and work! This month, we are honored to feature Teter Organic Farm in Noblesville, Indiana.

Teter Organic Farm is more than just farmland, it’s a community hub where health, sustainability, and thoughtful service intersect. The 8-acre organic farm serves as an outreach mission of Noblesville First United Methodist Church, growing over 40 varieties of organic produce and flowers. The farm’s mission is to increase access to healthy food, foster ecological education, and strengthen community relationships.

“Teter Organic Farm has been a special place for our family and the development of the farm adds a new level of importance,” said CCHA attorney Julia Church Kozicki. “The farm not only feeds Hamilton County families but also builds community to support healthier tomorrows.”

About Teter Organic Farm

Founded through the legacy of Ruth Teter, who donated the land, the farm is operated as a ministry of Noblesville First United Methodist Church. On its certified organic farm, Teter grows a wide variety of vegetables that supply local families, food pantries, and partner organizations.

Each year, the farm distributes tens of thousands of pounds of fresh produce to neighbors in need, ensuring that healthy food is accessible to all, regardless of their ability to afford it. Teter Farms also provides educational opportunities, welcoming volunteers, students, and community groups to learn more about sustainable farming practices, nutrition, and the importance of caring for the earth.

Meet the Director of Operations and Farm Manager: Katy Rogers

At the heart of Teter Organic Farm’s success is Katy, Director of Operations and Farm Manager. Katy’s passion for sustainable agriculture and her dedication to addressing food insecurity have been instrumental in shaping the farm’s mission and impact.

We asked Katy to share a bit about her work and the vision behind Teter Organic Farm:

Q: What inspires you most about leading Teter Organic Farm?
A: I'm incredibly lucky to be a part of an organization that has a measurable positive impact for so many people in our community. Teter Organic Farm is fighting food insecurity, the loneliness epidemic, and environmental damage by empowering volunteers to join us in producing nourishing food for the food insecure, providing educational opportunities and access to greenspace, and healing the environment along the White River. We offer aid without an agenda and believe it is our responsibility to use our resources to meet the needs in our community to the best of our ability.

Q: What do you wish more people knew about Teter?

A: Our 19 volunteer teams are made up of people from Hamilton County and surrounding areas who are drawn to the work and our mission. We are serving people who are food insecure with donations of fresh, high quality, produce. Feeding America reports 36,210 people in Hamilton County are food insecure as of 2023. Our vegetable donations and relationship building focuses primarily on the population of Hamilton County, with some activity in Marion County.

We serve the lonely through ever-increasing opportunities to participate in group activities on the farm that are accessible to people of all ages, economic situations, and various physical and mental abilities.

We serve youth from central Indiana and throughout the US with customized educational and service opportunities focused on environmental and agroecological learning. The World Health Organization reports that biodiversity loss has significant detrimental effects on human health. Restoring and educating about healthy ecosystems is paramount to ensure generations have access to clean air and water, fertile soil, and pollination.

I wish people knew how much we have to offer the community. We often hear that people know we grow food for the hungry but didn't know the trails are open to the public, or they know we have a retreat center but didn't know we host school field trips etc.

Q: How can the community best support your mission?
A: You can support our work by donating: https://teter-organic-farm.square.site/donations,

attending our farm festival: https://teter-organic-farm.square.site/fest,

volunteering: https://bttr.im/njbza,
