CCHA Law Proudly Supports Dyslexia Institute of Indiana

At CCHA Law, we believe every person should have the opportunity and support they need to learn, grow and thrive. That’s why we were proud to support the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana and its fundraiser, An Evening of Polo.

The Dyslexia Institute of Indiana, also known as Dii, serves students, parents, adults and educators affected by dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.

Founded in 1989, the organization began when a group of thoughtful and determined Indiana mothers discovered that they had to leave the state to find the specialized learning assistance their children required. Recognizing that many other families faced the same challenges, these “Founding Mothers” worked together to make effective reading resources more accessible throughout Indiana.

Today, Dii continues that mission through programs and services designed to help struggling readers build skills, confidence and greater independence, including:

  • Online and in-person tutoring for students who struggle with reading and spelling

  • Comprehensive evaluations and consultations

  • Training for educators, parents and tutors

  • ReadySetREAD, a school-based small-group literacy program

  • Camp Delafield, a summer program combining individualized academic support with activities that encourage self-esteem, motivation and social development

Dii Tutoring

Many of Dii’s programs use the Orton-Gillingham approach, which provides structured, multisensory and individualized reading and writing instruction. During its more than three
decades of service, Dii has helped thousands of students while expanding resources for families and educators across Indiana.

Why CCHA Law Supports the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana

Dii’s mission of helping individuals and families access meaningful educational resources closely aligns with CCHA Law’s longstanding commitment to the communities it serves.

CCHA Law attorney Jenni Hughes joined the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana’s Board of Directors in 2025, but her relationship with the organization began several years earlier.

“I first got involved with Dii when I joined the board in 2025,” Hughes says. “(But) I’ve interacted with the organization since 2021, when my child was diagnosed with dyslexia.”

That personal experience gives Hughes a deep appreciation for both Dii’s mission and the parents who created the organization.

“As a parent of a child with dyslexia, I am called to Dii’s mission of serving children, adults and families to address learning differences,” Hughes says. “The founding of this organization resonates with me, as it was started by a thoughtful and determined group of moms who came together to address their own children’s reading challenges.”

“Moms always find ways to address needs,” she continues. “I love that Dii has made these resources equitable and accessible.”

An Evening of Polo

The Dyslexia Institute of Indiana hosted An Evening of Polo on September 18, 2026, at Hickory Hall Polo Club in Whitestown, to raise funds and awareness in support of its ongoing services.

The family-friendly evening brought supporters together for polo, tailgating, children’s activities, raffles and opportunities to learn more about Dii’s work. Guests gathered with lawn

chairs, blankets, picnic baskets and coolers to enjoy the match while supporting literacy resources for children, adults, families and educators throughout Indiana.

CCHA Law participated as an event sponsor with a sponsored tent. Hughes was also a volunteer.

“CCHA was a sponsor of the polo event and is proud to be supporting dyslexic and struggling readers in learning to read, supporting educators, and providing tutoring and evaluations across Indiana,” Hughes says.

Funds raised through An Evening of Polo support Dii’s efforts to help dyslexic and struggling readers learn to read. They also help provide educator training, small-group tutoring in high-need schools, student evaluations and resources for families across the state.

Polo Dii

The event offered an enjoyable evening for attendees, but its impact will continue well beyond the polo field. Every registration and sponsorship helped Dii give more Hoosiers the tools they need to read, learn and thrive in school and throughout their lives.

How You Can Support the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana

There are several ways to join CCHA Law in supporting the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana and its mission:

  • Make a donation. Contributions to Dii help fund tutoring, testing, school-based programs, Camp Delafield and need-based assistance.

  • Explore Dii’s services. Families can learn more about the Institute’s tutoring, testing, training and student programs.

  • Share its mission. Increasing awareness can help more families find the evaluations, instruction and support they need.

  • Watch for future events. Supporting Dii’s fundraisers and community events helps sustain and expand its programs throughout Indiana.
