Teachers Treasures CCHA Law

CCHA Law is pleased to highlight a longstanding nonprofit organization that our offices are supporting this month. Teachers’ Treasures works to ensure teachers, educators, and students have access to free, vital resources for classroom success. This July, CCHA Law’s offices are organizing a drive to collect needed donations to support this organization, which helps at-risk children and educators in our community.

About Teachers’ Treasures

Teachers' Treasures was founded in 2000 by retired school principal Phyllis Imel and aims to support at-risk children by providing essential classroom supplies to their teachers. Operating as a "free store for teachers," the organization serves educators in Marion County and surrounding areas, where 60% or more of students are on free or reduced lunch programs. Teachers’ Treasures partners with local businesses, foundations, and community members to collect and distribute donated educational materials, ensuring that teachers have the resources they need to help their students succeed.

6,000+ students and teachers from 270+ schools in Marion County are supported each year by Teachers’ Treasures.

How Teachers’ Treasures Supports Teachers

Eligible teachers can register to shop once a month at either of their two locations. During a 30-minute shopping appointment, they can stock up on essential items, with each trip averaging around $500 in supplies. This support helps teachers equip their classrooms without the financial burden, allowing them to focus on teaching and improving student outcomes.

Any teacher working in Marion County schools with a 60% or higher free or reduced lunch are eligible to shop for supplies. Over 5,000 teachers were supported with $10 million in school supplies, reported in the 2021-2022 annual report.

Teachers can consult the shopping calendar to make an appointment to stock up on classroom supplies!

CCHA Law’s Supply Drive

CCHA Law is hosting an office-wide drive to collect classroom supply donations at our Noblesville and Fishers office locations. Our team is encouraged to bring in donations between July 18th and August 5th, or make a monetary donation through the Teachers' Treasures website. Afterward, a group of us will deliver the supplies directly to the Teachers’ Treasures donation center, where we will also get to tour and see the great work they do.

"We are proud to host a drive for Teachers' Treasures, a nonprofit organization that several of our attorneys are passionate about and have supported for many years. By connecting donors and volunteers with schools, Teachers' Treasures ensures that students have the resources necessary for a quality education, fostering a thriving community for all. We are excited to contribute to this mission and support our local educators and students through this drive," said Chandler Lawson Flynn, CCHA Law School Law Attorney.
