CCHA Cares: Supporting The Milk Bank’s Lifesaving Mission
At CCHA Law, we believe that meaningful change often starts with small acts of kindness, especially when those acts support vulnerable members of our community. That’s why we’re proud to shine a light on The Milk Bank this month in our monthly #CCHAcares blog. The Milk Bank is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe, pasteurized donor milk to infants in need.
A Partnership Rooted in Purpose
Our connection to The Milk Bank began in 2022 when attorney David Day introduced the organization to the firm. That introduction sparked a collective effort to help meet a growing demand for donor milk by funding the purchase of a medical-grade freezer that has been fondly nicknamed the “CCHA Chiller.”
Since then, The Milk Bank’s work has only grown. In fact, their tissue bank services have increased by 33%, creating the need for an additional freezer.
This spring, CCHA Law launched a second online fundraiser to help meet The Milk Bank’s latest need: purchasing another freezer to safely store life-saving milk. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our team, we raised over $1,000.

Why It Matters
Prematurity, illness, and maternal complications can create critical feeding challenges for newborns. Donor milk provides essential nutrients and immune protection when a mother’s milk is not available. The Milk Bank is able to deliver that care directly to hospitals and families across the region.
The Milk Bank’s mission is to promote community health by expanding the safe use of human milk for all babies, especially premature and ill infants. Their services reach across 18 states, providing 1,900,000 feedings of milk to critically ill infants in 2024.
By providing not only funding but also awareness, CCHA Law is proud to stand with The Milk Bank in their mission to save tiny lives and support grieving families through bereavement resources and community outreach.
How to Support The Milk Bank

Fund An Ounce: Every $5 donation provides 3 feedings, supporting babies in need.
Donate Milk: Safe donor milk is more than just nutrition. For some, it’s life-saving medicine.
Start A Donation Drive: The Milk Bank is always in need of milk storage bags, sharpies, and gallon bags for milk donors. You can collect items and bring them to their HQ in Indianapolis, or use their Amazon wishlist for shipping.
