About Séamus

Séamus is a partner with CCHA. He primarily represents clients involved in education and government at all levels. Séamus has the Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating of AV Preeminent for the highest level of professional excellence in law. Séamus started his practice of law in 2006 before the courts of Indiana and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He has briefed a case before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Séamus is a frequent presenter, writer and contributor for many organizations. He has served on board of the national Council of School Attorneys (COSA) and continues to serve on COSA’s amicus committee. He is a founder and the Chairman of the Indiana Council of School Attorneys (ICOSA) as well as ICOSA’s Legislative Committee. In 2011, the Indianapolis Star featured him as a "Rising Star" for his work as an education lawyer. In addition, the Indianapolis Business Journal's Indiana Lawyer identified Séamus as an "Up & Coming Lawyer" for Indiana. In every year since 2012, Séamus has been recognized by the Super Lawyers publication in the practice area of Schools and Education.

Séamus is active in the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana Bar Foundation where he has served on the governing boards for both organizations. He received the Bar Foundation’s William G. Baker recognition for outstanding dedication to citizenship education and helped start the State Bar’s Leadership Development Academy which empowers and develops lawyers to be informed, committed and involved so that they may fill significant leadership roles in their communities and organizations, and serve as role models in matters of ethics and professionalism. His favorite civic engagement is through the Bar Foundation’s We The People program.

Séamus attended the University of New Hampshire School of Law where he concurrently earned both a law degree and masters in education law. He received the award for the law student who best demonstrates both scholarship and leadership. Séamus is an alumnus of Wabash College and is on the Board of the Indianapolis Association of Wabash Men. While at Wabash, he became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and Sphinx Club through which he reinstalled the College’s “Chapel Talk” speaker series. He also studied at the National University of Ireland.

Séamus is an active participant with OneZone Commerce and serves on OneZone’s state advocacy committee. He has served on the board for Janus Developmental Services.

Séamus was born and raised in Indianapolis with his eight siblings. His wife, Erin, is a teacher for students with special needs. He tries to use the Socratic method to raise their three daughters (Lena, Nellie + Vera) up to be good human beings and blue-chip civics students!
