Whether we like it or not, cold temps have arrived with a vengeance! With Thanksgiving mere days away, Christmas is just around the corner.

It's a time of year we love here at CCHA! We are especially looking ahead to Conner Prairie's Merry Prairie Holiday, a brand new event for this year.

As one of the largest attractions in the region and one of the most visited outdoor museums in the country, CCHA has supported Conner Prairie for many years. We have helped fund projects and sponsored programs at Conner Prairie, including our sponsorship of the North Pole Workshop at the Merry Prairie Holiday. Our own Kyle Blowers serves on the Horizon Council, Conner Prairie's young professional organization, Doug Church has a long affiliation with the museum and David Day currently sits on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee and is chairman of the Finance Committee.

To get everyone in the holiday spirit, sparkling lights will be the emphasis of the Merry Prairie Holiday, carrying on a time-honored family tradition by displaying the Reynolds Christmas lights across the grounds, donated by our friends Gary Reynolds and his family.

"Our Christmas light display was born out my father's love for Christmas and our community," said Gary Reynolds, owner and chairman of Reynolds Farm Equipment. "Transitioning our Christmas lights display to Conner Prairie ensures this tradition of celebrating Christmas with lights continue as part of Conner Prairie's new A Merry Prairie Holiday festival."

Breathtaking rides and enchanting performances -- they're also a part of A Merry Prairie Holiday Festival at Conner Prairie, and they're sure to be among your most cherished winter memories for years to come. Participants will enjoy a journey around the Clowes Common, where they'll find holiday treats and eats, artisans working on seasonal crafts, and special photo ops. Kids will visit North Pole Village, where they'll enter a toy workshop and make a holiday gift with the help of Santa's elves, zoom down a Polar Bear Plunge dry snow tubing hill, and so much more.

All the while, you'll enjoy local entertainers and musicians and fresh holiday treats and beverages, under the glow of holiday lights on the Conner House and Animal Encounters Barn.

Festivities kick off November 29 and run through December 29, Friday through Sunday, from 6-10 P.M. (gates are open 6-9 P.M.). Tickets are available here.

Conner Prairie welcomes more than 400,000 visitors of all ages annually. As Indiana's first Smithsonian Institute affiliate, CCHA encourages you to visit Conner Prairie, Indiana's first Smithsonian Affiliate, this holiday season!
