Church Church Hittle + Antrim (CCHA) welcomes Kevin S. Smith to the firm June 1, 2016. Smith joins CCHA as a partner after serving Hoosiers for more than a decade as the Clerk of the Indiana Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Tax Court, as well as the Indiana Supreme Court Administrator.

Smith brings unique insight into the inner workings of Indiana’s Judicial Branch and its three highest courts. He also worked extensively on interpretations of and revisions to the Indiana Rules of Appellate Procedure, the Indiana Admission and Discipline Rules, and the Indiana Administrative Rules. Smith was instrumental in planning and implementing Indiana’s appellate e-filing initiative and taught numerous seminars on appellate procedure.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that Kevin is joining the CCHA family,” said CCHA’s Managing Partner, Steven Lutz. “Kevin is one of the most knowledgeable appellate attorneys in the state. His detailed knowledge of Indiana’s appellate e-filing platform and his appellate experience will no doubt prove invaluable as we continue to help individual, business and institutional clients throughout Indiana navigate the appellate court system.”

Smith earned his law degree from Indiana University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Before government service, Smith spent many years advising clients on a wide variety of labor and employment issues, such as civil rights and discrimination claims, the Family and Medical Leave Act, wage and hour compliance, appropriate personnel policies, and covenants not to compete, as well as litigating matters in federal and state trial and appellate courts.
